The Men
Nick Filippone once again extended his hospitality to the club members for the August 27, 2005 Competition.
Club members participated in a pre-contest field trip. The Fulton County Airport Anti-terrorist Readiness levels were elevated from Green to Bemused as we rushed the flight line to examine a parked Beech Super 18.
We also judged a Douglas 1:1 Sky Warrior on display near the airport gate. Basic contruction was good, although the judges felt the panel lines were overstated for the scale.

Art also noted with some satisfaction that the canopy was not attached.

The official Reading of the Rules.
Let the judging begin!
Each model received varying degrees of presbyoptic scrutiny.
Sniggering and disparaging remarks were strictly forbidden on a case-by-case basis.
Here's the Sanford Award (the "Cup" as it were) and the premium given to each of this year's participants.
A post-competition awards banquet went off without a hitch. Good food, good fellowship.
Lively discourse followed the meal and wrapped up the afternoon.

We also discovered that Bill could sleep standing up.

The Models

This year's Competition offered a devilish twist: All entries had to be built using the Tamiya 1/48 Kubelwagon kit and custom crafted display bases given out as the premium to last year's contestants. Other than that, no holds barred.

The winning model's worthy competition are pictured below.
